TechNet Events
December 12th, 2008Nope I've not disappeared, quite the opposite in fact, i've just been incredibly busy (no rest for me
)
Anyway while I was checking my email earlier I'd received an email from Microsoft about their TechNet events (basically conferences for IT Professionals). This surprised me as I didn't recall signing up for these newsletters, so presumably it's something to do with the beta testing I did for Vista.
I have to confess though I am tempted, especially the one about Communications Server. I grant you I don't work professionally in the IT industry, but I'm very interested in going to one of more of these. Watch this space!
Beta Testing
November 10th, 2008Many of you may not be aware that I used to do some beta testing for McAfee (various security products) and Microsoft (Vista). Well it's felt like too long since I last did any testing, so I've just downloaded the beta versions of IE 8, and the new Live Messenger. While these are only small in the scale of things, I always like to test new features and applications.
As soon as the public beta of Windows 7 becomes available, I will be signed up. Expect reviews of these beta products soon ![]()

Life without the internet
September 22nd, 2008It's now been over a week since I found I had no internet connection at home, and it's really set me thinking. Withdrawal symptoms aside, one thing that really dawned on me is just how much we rely on the internet these days and just how much it is a central part of every day life. Here are some initial thoughts
I never really thought about how often we all say things like "oh just put it in an email" or "i know i'll look that up on google". It has become so natural to me with having the internet on tap, that it has almost felt like not having it is a hinderance. In fact, it has certainly made some things harder as the internet, among other things, is an incredibly useful resource of information.
I will be writing a full report on life without the internet, and how I feel that it is so engrained in our lives that coping without it isn't as easy as it sounds.
Check back soon
Recent lack of updates
September 17th, 2008I'm afraid this is a huge apology to everyone who reads this site. Owing to going through a move of house, I have not had access to the internet.
When I move in to the new house next week, I anticipate I will have full internet access again and normal posting will resume. In the mean time I will endeavour to post during my lunch hours at work, however this may not be regular.
Please bear with me at this time, your use of the site is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your patience

Upgrading my iMac RAM
August 25th, 2008With only 2 days between now and pay day, that means only a handful of days until I order a 2GB stick of RAM for my iMac. Presently I only have 1GB, which means that the system works pretty well (it's really surprised me just how far 1GB goes with Mac OS, especially when I run Windows in a virtual machine!) but for what I plan to do, with more video editing, and creating tutorial videos 1GB is just not enough.
I'm also looking at doing tutorials for Windows inside the virtual machine, which will definitely need more memory.
So far though, my iMac has been a great purchase, and I will be doing a video on the last 6 months with my iMac. From the first impressions right through to day to day life. I'm also going to be doing a video response to Harry's Tech Survey so head on over to www.youtube.com/projiuk to keep up with my latest videos.
I hope this new Proji Update blog is a welcome addition to the site. I expect I will be keeping these updates to a weekly basis, but I will still do update videos as well. For more frequent updates, head over to www.twitter.com/projiuk and follow me on Twitter.
